Excellent!  Just spicy shrimp done perfectly. Crunchy vegetables — savory and nutritious. 

Wednesday – Slow Cooker Ethiopian-Spiced Chicken & Black Bean Stew

Unusual combo of flavoring. Love the black lentils. Really nutritious. 

Thursday – Roasted Cauliflower with Pancetta, Olives & Crisp Parmesan

Can’t go wrong if you love every one of these ingredients like I do. 

Friday — Kerala Chicken Stew

A three- or four-season meal. Delicious flavors of southeastern India. The coconut broth is subtle.

Saturday – Summer Vegetable Chowder (5 rating)

Fresh and creamy.  Delicious with beans, corn and zucchini.

 Sunday – Brisket with Sweet and Sour Onions (3 rating)

Easy dish in Instant Pot, but Mrs. Farmboy is not a big fan of sweet, mushy onion. 

Monday – Farro, Heirloom Tomato and Peach Salad (5 rating)

Light, flavorful and vegetarian.  Good peaches and tomatoes are key to this quick, easy salad.

Tuesday – Chicken and Cucumber Salad with Parsley Pesto (4 rating)

Interesting. Hearty, refreshing protein-rich salad with chicken, chickpeas and edamame.

Wednesday – Pasta Salad with Tomatoes and Corn (3 rating)

Easy dinner salad that takes advantage of the fresh corn and plum tomatoes from the garden.

Thursday – Grilled Chicken Salad with Strawberries and Feta (4 rating)

Simple and fast. Did the chicken on the stove and served over tossed greens and strawberries with an oil and vinegar.

Sunday – Pan-Seared Scallops with Chorizo and Corn (4 rating)

A good Bon Appetit-inspired recipe. I cooked Italian sausage in a sauce pan, then removed it and added chopped scallions, garlic, a chopped jalapeno and fresh sweet corn to the pan. Meanwhile, the scallops were cooked in a separate pan using the oil from the sausage. Buttermilk was added to the corn mixture, and the scallops were served on top, with lime wedges for squeezing.

Monday – Firecracker Shrimp Skewers and Buttermilk Cucumber Salad (3)

A good dinner, but not great. The shrimp were not as spicy as expected, and the buttermilk cucumber salad was not a good enough counterpoint.

Tuesday – Chicken Salad with Orange Pistachio Vinaigrette (3)

A bit bland.  Good idea, but lacked a bit in the flavor category.

Wednesday – Cambodian Beef Salad (4)

A very interesting dish. Interesting flavors. The beef is cooked in a sauce of lime juice, fish sauce and brown sugar, then piled on a salad of greens (your choice), thinly-sliced cucumber, jalapeno and scallions. The sauce then becomes the dressing. Tasty.

Thursday – Vietnamese Tumeric Fish with Wilted Herbs and Peanuts (3)

O.K. but uninspired.

Friday – Warm Chickpea and Green Bean Salad with Aioli (4.5)

A very refreshing salad for a hot evening. Fresh-blanched green beans served with chickpeas, chopped scallions and sliced radishes with a home-made aioli. A nice crusty bread is the only other thing you need.

Saturday – Eating out – the Swallows

A fine dinner of freshly-caught lobster.

Sunday – Lemon Dill Potato Beet Salad (3 rating)

Good fresh beets from the garden, but the dressing was not a winner.

Monday – Seared Scallops with Mint, Peas and Bacon (5)

Recipe of the Week. Fantastic Chatham-caught fresh scallops from the New England Fishmonger.  Mrs. Farmboy extends her gratitude to the fisherman and farmers for this delicious combination of flavors.

Tuesday – Moroccan-spiced Bulgur and Chickpea Salad  (4)

Good mid-week dinner option. Bulgur and chickpeas in a dressing laced with cumin and coriander. Mint adds an interesting touch as does the addition of dried cranberries.

Wednesday – Leftovers (Mrs. Farmboy is dining out.)

Thursday – Grilled Shrimp with Oregano and Lemon (4)

A nice lemony sauce with capers and chopped oregano accents this shrimp dish.

Friday – Mediterranean Chicken and Bulgur Skillet (3.5)

A one-pot dish of chicken, bulgur and spinach. Baked in the oven for 15 minutes, then sprinkled with feta cheese and a touch of dill.

Saturday – Grilled Flank Steak with Sauteed Beet Greens and Beets with Creamy Horseradish Sauce (2 rating)

Turns out we’re not fans of sautéed beet greens. 

Sunday – Cod with Roasted Beets and Dill Orange Gremolata (4 rating)Easy recipe, but would not repeat.

Monday – Summer Herb Meatballs with Avocado Dip (3.5 rating)

Meh.  Interesting, but just another way to make plain meatballs.  They are easy to keep on BBQ skewers, so if you’re looking to grill, this would be a good meat dish.  Might also be appropriate for appetizers.

Tuesday – Summer Chopped Salad with Quick Pickled Vegetables (4 rating)

Interesting salad.  Supposed to be one of Paul Newman’s favorites.

Wednesday – Watermelon Salad with Grilled Shrimp (4 rating)

Easy. Half hour prep. Couldn’t be this one on a hot night.  Cooked shrimp on the stove, but could as easily have done them on the grill.

Thursday – Grilled Steak Tostadas with Spicy Radish Salad (4 rating)

Radishes paired with a sliced steak for a savory, crunchy combo.  Used taco chips instead of tostadas, and it was just as good.

Friday – Grilled Pork Chop with Honey Garlic Glaze (5 rating)

Recipe of the week.  Good sweet garlicy glaze to spread on a well-grilled pork chop.  Paired this with a fresh string bean salad for a great, cool meal.

Menu of the Week — July 4

Saturday – Dinner Out

Sunday – Smoked Beef Brisket and Cole Slaw
A classic. Mrs. Farmboy rates it a 5. You’ll need a smoker to achieve this one, but it was worth the day-long process of smoking. Mrs. Farmboy made a fantastic slaw.

Monday – Grain Salad with Tomatoes and Cucumbers
Easy. Toasting the farro before adding water gives it an additional nutty flavor. When cooked, just add the tomatoes, cukes, onions and make a simple lemon vinaigrette and top with torn basil leaves and pine nuts.

Tuesday – Smoky Paprika Chicken and Crispy Chickpeas over Green Salad
Unusual. Mrs. Farmboy (5 rating) like the unusual combination of flavors. Nice contrast of lemony greens over spiced chicken and crispy baked chickpeas.

Wednesday – Green Curry Beef Skewers with Fried Basil Oil
OK but wouldn’t repeat. (Mrs. Farmboy rates 4) Southeast Asian approach to marinating beef or lamb. Good but not great.

Thursday – Shrimp-Tomato-Avocado Salad
“Perfect for a hot summer night,” says Mrs. Farmboy (5 rating). You can have this on the table in half an hour. Cooked shrimp, tomatoes, avocado and cucumbers with a simple herbed vinaigrette over lettuce.

Friday – Hot Sesame Noodles with Scallions and Pork
Another easy meal that can be on the table in about 30 minutes. Mrs. Farmboy rates it a 5.
